Lake Hiawatha School Variety Show

Lake Hiawatha School Variety Show
In early November, the PTA met to design an event that would entertain the Lake Hiawatha School community.  Due to these unprecedented times, we thought it was a great opportunity to showcase the many talents of students and staff that we would never see in a school setting. This virtual event not only awed our friends and families, but also provided a few laughs that we all could use during these times.  We called it a" Variety Show" because we had a potpourri of acts.  We had a total of 50 students and staff involved.

The first step was sending out a Google Form to see who was interested in participating.  We had a tremendous response.  Once the interest forms were filled out, the  PTA sent out directions to submit the video.  Under the leadership of Mr. Figurelli and Brian Satch (Video On The Go) they compiled the videos into a show.

On Friday, December 18th at 7:00 PM, the show premiered on You Tube.  Many families sat back, drank some hot chocolate, ate a few holiday treats and enjoyed watching these astonishing performances.  Compliments were being sent to all contestants through social media and text.  It warmed my heart to see my own kids smiling as their classmates entertained us. There was dirt bike riding, cooking, art, singing, dancing, and more!  Who would have ever known that Mr. Figurelli had other talents besides being a great Principal?

It takes a lot of courage to be in front of your peers so each participant will get a small prize from the PTA for their courageousness.  The prizes will be handed to the contestants when we return to school.  Winners will be chosen by some of the Lake Hiawatha School staff once everyone has a chance to view the show.  The PTA would like to thank Mrs. Duchensky, Mrs. Galluzzi, Mrs. Izzo, Mrs. Brindle, Miss Beyer, Ms. Willis and Mr. Figurelli for participating in the event.  With the support of the teachers, staff and parents, the PTA is able to build partnerships and services that benefit the school community.

If you didn't have a chance to view the LHS Variety Show, it is available to view at your leisure on You Tube.  We hope to create more events for you!  Congratulations to all our performers!
